"In our day to day actions, it is often the small and simple things that will have a long-lasting impact. What we say, how we act, and how we choose to react will influence not only ourselves but also those around us. We can build up, or we can tear down." -Per G. Malm

Family Picture

Taken at Grandma's on Mother's Day.

Hymns

I have learned something today that I never understood until I became a mom. Growing up in church I was always amazed that all these moms seemed to know every single hymn that was played in sacrament and never needed to use a hymnal. I used to be so amazed and in awe of these women. Then I realized it is because in your children's zeal to sing along and "read" along they have to hold the hymnal and they don't seem to realize that you don't turn the pages as you do so. So, in order to actually sing the hymns you have to memorize them because your toddler sure isn't letting you read the words.

Grateful

So I learned a few weeks ago about something called a "Grateful Journal." The concept is that you write down 5 things every day for which you are grateful. I have tried to just incorporate it into my daily (uh....semi weekly/semi monthly) journal writing. I am not going to blog them every day but I felt like doing it today. So I am thankful for:

1. The new conference issue that has come out and the great article I read today with Brock during companion study. "Becoming Prvoident Providers Temporally and Spiritually" by Robert D. Hales.
2. The great Relief Society Lesson taught by Sister Newell today about the Roles of Fathers in the Home.
3. My husband who just rocked Meghan to sleep after a HUGH and HYSTERICAL fit so that I would not have to nurse her again. MY nipples are so thankful.
4. The fact that we have a home. Even though I get frustrated that I don't have the space I want right now. I am thankful to have a roof over my head.
5. Sister Loop or "Super Loop" as Emily calls her. Emily loves her and makes her nursery experience great.

Potty Training Part One

Potty Training is too much fun. Especially with an imaginative toddler. Emily was trying to pee the other day and in the midst of waiting for something to happen pulled the lid down on her back and said "Look, I'm a turtle." I was cracking up.

Friends Forever

Here are Emily and "Latlee" as Emily calls her. I think it is hilarious that Emily can say construction but can't say Natalie. They were sharing an Apple or is it an orange I can't tell. Oh well. It is funny but in the picture it looks like there are two people but really they are the same. Ask Anna.

Brock's Babes

Here are Brock's babes decked out in our jammies.

2 Going on 22 Part II

So today while going down the stairs for breakfast, Emily says to me "When I get bigger and bigger I get a bra." What in the world. What 2 year old says something like this let alone at 6:30 in the morning.

Oh Emily

Yesterday we were at my dads gardening and meg was taking a super long nap. I started leaking milk and had my hand pressed up against my breast to stop it. Emily saw me and said "Are you leaking mom?" I said yes and she said "me too." Then she lifted up her shirt and found my dad and said "grandpa I leaking." He raised his finger to point at her and she said don't "touch my leaks." I tell ya it is never boring at my house.

Thanks to Grandma Karen for watching Emily so that Brock and I could go to Stake Conference on Saturday. And thanks for teaching her how to put on lipstick. The story goes that they were in her car jamming out to music and putting on makeup in the visor mirrors. She's Gorgeous.

Puns Anyone?

My dad sent me a list of some silly puns. They are pretty lame but made me smile. Here are just a few:

She was only a whisky maker's daughter, but he loved her still.
The butcher backed into the meat grinder and got a little behind in his work.
A dog gave birth to puppies near the road and was cited for littering.
Two silk worms had a race. They ended up in a tie.
Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization.
A sign on the lawn at a drug rehab center said, 'Keep off the Grass.'
The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran.
When cannibals ate a missionary, they got a taste of religion.

Clearly my life is so exciting that I have this as a post. Hmmmmm
