"In our day to day actions, it is often the small and simple things that will have a long-lasting impact. What we say, how we act, and how we choose to react will influence not only ourselves but also those around us. We can build up, or we can tear down." -Per G. Malm

Riddle me this...

Maybe I have to much time on my hands I don't know, but do you know what is an interesting word? Extraordinary. It doesn't make sense. Let's break it down.

The word extra means: beyond or more than what is usual, expected, or necessary; additional. larger or better than what is usual.
The word ordinary means: of no special quality or interest; commonplace; unexceptional: plain or undistinguished: somewhat inferior or below average; mediocre.

So in essence wouldn't the word put together mean more commonplace, more mediocre? Yet it does not. It means beyond what is ordinary or usual: extraordinary authority. Highly exceptional; remarkable: an extraordinary achievement. Please someone explain this method of thinking to me I just do not understand.

It like military intelligence, it doesn't make sence but it's still there. Don't get me wrong the military is great and I support the troops but that just seems like those two words should not be in the same sentence.

Well I don't know if I can explain all the various oxymorons that the english language contains, but just think of it this way. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is a little extra. I hope you are doing better today. I guess this means our family dinner together will have to be put on hold. Hmm, I think the fates don't want us to be friends--good thing I don't believe in them. Hang in there.
